Sheng Zhen Gong affirms the way my body knows and loves to flow. In the moment of practice, I experience mental, physical, and emotional balance. My mind quiets, my breath deepens, I sigh, tension dissolves, and I smile. I feel this practice has changed my constitution by deepening my patience and compassion with others. - What is Qigong?
Qigong is the practice of distinctive movements for the cultivation and mastery of qi, or life-force energy. Qigong is similar to taiji and yoga. Widely practiced in Asia, qigong has recently become popular in the West as an approach to the maintenance of overall health and well-being. Qigong helps induce a relaxation response that may positively affect your body’s natural healing ability and increase your sense of balance in a stressful world.
- What should I wear?
Dress comfortably. You can wear sweat pants or yoga pants, but shorts are fine, too. We practice in our bare feet or with socks. If you must wear shoes, please dedicate a pair of indoor shoes to the practice.
- Do I need to bring anything?
The various qigong forms are done either standing, seated, or laying down. We provide chairs and mats for sitting and laying. We also have yoga mats to stand on to provide you with cushion if you desire. You do not need to bring anything, but it is recommended to bring a water bottle. We have a water fountain available with hot and cold water options.
- Community Class Cancellation and Refund Policy
Cancellations accepted up to one week prior to first class of series. A $15 fee will be charged for cancellations. No refunds will be given for missed classes, although make-ups may be made in a similar class, subject to space availability.
