Luo is an active scholar whose research program encompasses investigation of the effects of electro-acupuncture on Alzheimer’s disease and inquiry into the use of acupuncture and herbal treatments in cases of cerebral hemorrhage. He is an accomplished physician whose peers at the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital in Chengdu, China recognized him with the designation “Excellent Doctor,” an honor bestowed on only 10 of the 2000 doctors in the hospital. Luo has been a professional interpreter for the Chengdu University of TCM and for international medical delegations. Luo is also an experienced and highly dedicated educator. He taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at the Chengdu University of TCM, and gave lectures to a variety of audiences that included not only local doctors and patients but also foreign doctors from more than 15 countries in Europe, America and Asia. His schedule of invited presentations to date includes local and international audiences, and he presents not only on his research interests but also in the service of education for medical care providers with the aim of building bridges between Eastern and Western medical practices. Luo has been a faculty member and clinical supervisor at AOMA since 2005.
Song Luo is one of the first acupuncturists to safely treat a patient in the ICU of an American hospital (Seton Medical Center 38th St.). He has also been invited to treat stroke in the inpatient department in St. David's Medical Center.
