Aging Well With Physical Activity

Understand the effects and consequences of aging on muscle fiber and the impact of sarcopenia. Learn strategies for developing and maintaining a physically active lifestyle during older adulthood. Construct an exercise program using guidelines established by the American College of Sports Medicine. Fall prevention and adaptations for chronic illness and injuries will be covered.  Senior Fitness Assessment will be included.

Becky Behling is a student teacher of Awareness Through Movement® lessons, and approved by the Feldenkrais Guild of North America to teach ATM lessons. She is a certified personal trainer and post-rehabilitation exercise specialist. In addition to working with individuals of all ages and abilities, she has taught group fitness classes for more than 25 years. Becky has developed and presented continuing education workshops on a variety of topics for group fitness instructors and personal trainers as well as the general public. Recently, she was the lead instructor for LiveStrong at the Northwest Family YMCA where she assisted cancer survivors, their families, and caretakers in developing active lifestyles. She holds a BA in physical education, MS in physical education/athletic training, and has completed 42 post-graduate hours in kinesiology.
