Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art that can yield amazing health benefits. Tai Chi centers on training with slow, graceful, and circular movements that utilize strength in the core to build balance and inner strength. There are 5 styles of Tai Chi, the oldest being Chen Tai Chi. There are 74 forms, or a sequence of standard movements, of Chen Tai Chi. Most people practice Tai Chi for its meditative and internal aspect with the goal of maintaining a good flow of a person’s Chi, or one’s Life Flow, which is believed in Chinese Medicine to greatly influence one’s health.
This is a 45 minute course where students will start with a 20 minute warmup followed by an introduction to Tai Chi form 8. Form 8 is always the precursor to every other form. The class will then continuing into form 21, and will end with a demonstration of several Tai Chi self-defense techniques.
Instructor Bio: Annick has traveled to Yangshuo, in the Guangxi region in China, to train with Master Huang Hua, a 12th Generation Authentic Chen Tai Chi Master. Annick is certified to teach Tai Chi Forms 8 and 21
