Chakra Painting: 2nd Chakra Art Playshop

There are seven principal chakras in the body. Chakras are vortex points in our energetic body where energy is distributed to the body and from which it disperses back to the open energy field.

The second chakra is called “Svadisthana”, which means ‘sweetness’ or ‘pleasure’ in Sanskrit. This chakra center is commonly known as the “Sacral” chakra and is located at the lower abdomen/lower back, about three inches below the navel at the sacrum.

The Sacral chakra relates to the genitals, abdomen, adrenals, lower back, and hips. This particular chakra activates creative expression, sensuality, intimacy, and connection. It is often referred to as the sexual energy center. In the highest sense, however, the Sacral chakra governs creativity, enthusiasm, relationships, and emotions. It supports a healthy, accepting relationship with our emotions and the capacity to learn from both positive and negative experiences. The second chakra can ignite creative passion and connect us to the innocence of playfulness and delight.

We will bring the light of creativity to stimulate and harmonize our Sacral chakra through a guided inner journey of intuitive mandala painting, guided meditation practices and aromatherapy. No experience is necessary in painting or in chakra knowledge, and all supplies are provided.

Classical Japanese Hari Style of Acupuncture

Location: AOMA Graduate School Classroom E2, 4701 West Gate Blvd Austin, TX 78745

From: May 20, 2016 at 9:00am to: Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 6:00pm

Details:

New Call-to-action

The practice and art of Hari style acupuncture is based in Traditional Japanese Meridian Therapy, which balances an individual's Ki in order to treat the root cause of disease while also treating the symptoms.  Various methods of utilizing Ki, such as pulse diagnosis, non-invasive needle techniques, and Ki diagnosis, are used by the trained practitioner.

Japanese Hari style of Acupuncture is theoretically based on the ancient Chinese Medical Classics, such as the Su Wen, Ling Shu, and Nan Jing, although this course's teacher, Takayuki Koei Kuwahara, has developed his own understanding and methodology over the past 4 decades.

Students will learn to diagnosis based on Meridian relationships, the five phases, yin and yang theory, the four inspections, and emphasizes that the practitioner develop a keen sense of Ki.  The patient's pulse is taken at the start, during, and after the treatment in order to gain an accurate understanding of how the Ki was shifted.  This helps train the student's perception of pulse and determines the best techniques to use in treating an individual's symptoms.

The treatment focuses on redirecting the Ki's distribution throughout the meridians in accordance with the primary deficiency pattern.  The practitioner often uses a gentle needle technique, which is usually non-insertive, using fine gold or silver needles.  Students are trained to decipher the location and severity of a disease in order to use the correct technique to disperse the "evil" Ki.  Students will be able to sharpen their Ki perception through practical and didactic learning.

This intriguing and enlightening four-part seminar begins in May 2016.  Each portion of the seminar is 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) in the months of May, June, July and August.  Seminar dates are as follows:

May 19-22
June 17-19
July 22-24
August 19-21

About the Instructor

Takayuki Koei Kuwahara, LAc has been practicing Acupuncture for 40 years in Boston and Japan, employing both classical Japanese Acupuncture and Japanese Medical Ki Gong.  After graduating from Tokyo Therapeutic Institute in 1979, he went on to complete an intensive five-year apprenticeship with Mr. Fukushima, renowned practitioner and developer of the Toyo Hari.

Having taught for the Toyo Hari Association for 15 years, he now teaches his unique (Hari) style of acupuncture that draws from the various systems practiced by his teachers:  Sensei Shimada (Kototama), Shiomi, Ikeda, Shudo (Meridican therapy), Kudo (bloodletting), Tanioka (pediatrics), and Nakagawa (Shinkiko/Ki Gong).

Since visiting the NESA in 1991, he has taught several advanced JAS courses in many parts of the world.  He has also practiced Aikido and Iaido for 45 years.  Takayuki currently lives in Watertown, MA where he maintains a private practice.

For centuries, people have used the mind together with the body’s energy centers to maintain or rebuild health. Many cultures recognize that the feminine divine aspects of the mind—the intuition and creative imagination—can be used to build a strong connection between the body, mind and spirit. But more than words are needed to sustain the relationship. Nor are mere images enough. There is more to it. We must expand our awareness and incorporate into our perceptual ‘tool chest’ a number of strategies to insure we bring forward the deepest levels of health and balance.

In this course students first receive an overview of basic psychic activities that can be easily used in daily life. Then together the group performs the tasks introduced at the beginning. Whether hoping to maintain their own health or looking to enhance the well-being of others, students in this class find new ways to respond to life circumstances that prove spiritually enhancing and emotionally liberating. Please join us as we explore how to use the imagination in simple ways, guiding the mind towards fresh avenues of vitality, even under the most stressful conditions.

Eileen “Ike” West, MA, is an international lecturer and spiritualist featured in Susan Smit’s Wise Woman, (NL 2003) with such notables as Isabel Allende, Jane Goodall, Queen Noir, and Isabella Rossellini. As we move through the world many of us actually leak energy, which leads to stress, worry, and lack of inspiration. Through their ability to perceive energy directly, the Toltec mastered specific techniques for raising, holding, and directing personal energy.
Learn about the importance of intent, how to clear energy-draining stories and beliefs, how to contain and direct your energy, and how to bend your mind to a new, limitless reality. And of course, learn how to bend cutlery with your energy and mind aligned.

Neoclassical Pulse Diagnosis Weekend 1

Location: AOMA Graduate School Classroom E2, 4701 West Gate Blvd Austin, TX 78745

Details:

Weekend I

The 8 extraordinary vessel pulse method is one of the most robust and profound methods of pulse diagnosis I have found. It can be used for literally any condition. Further the pulse method describes shape and can be used for record keeping. It is important to remember that, when using this method, the shape may be indicative of some other problem.

The 6-channel system will be addressed here. It is profoundly effective for the conditions of the sinews. Having said this, it is used for internal medical concerns as well. The time frames of the NeoClassical method present a cognitive structure. As can be seen here, this weekend will focus upon Levels 1, 2 and part of 4.

Weekend II

Every pulse diagnosis method may be used to inform various areas of practice. The body image system is particularly useful for herbal medicine.

The practice of pulse diagnosis eases when driven by inquiry. Here, the question pertains to anatomical location. In this method, one places the image of the body over the radial artery in order to explore specific anatomical locations.

The depths correlate with the nerve, vessel and organ tissues from anatomical points of view. The late great John HF Shen influenced a whole generation of practitioners in America and Europe. The lineage he transmitted included a pulse diagnosis system that involved a ‘body image’ on the radial artery at the wrist. In his method, the fingers are rolled from one of the primary pulse positions into an area that is representative of a specific anatomical feature of the organ. For instance, to examine the esophagus, one rolls distal from the primary stomach position in order to get insight about the structure and function of the esophagus from the pulse.

The purpose of the practice of Return to Spring is to attain an even, calm disposition, mastering the mind, the inner self, and one’s inner power. If we can maintain this even state of mind, we can attain equipoise and achieve good health. The word “spring” in the title Return to Spring refers to nature – a return to nature, the original state. It also signifies beauty, goodness, and vitality. The same effortless balance found in the moon’s path around the earth can also be experienced within the movements of our own bodies. Go into this space as you practice the movements. In your Heart and mind everything is perfect.

This class is open to beginners and advanced students.

Heart Spirit as One

In the practice of Heart Spirit as One, the practitioner is brought to the experience of receiving the Love from which the universe was created and the Love into which everything dissolves. Love is a powerful energy. This form will help one allow Love to enter the Heart. This sitting practice is both meditative and self-healing. One will gradually be able to hold the positions longer when one is dedicated to the regular practice of Heart Spirit as One. The form consists of three simple positions connected with graceful transitions that nurture and open the heart.

Heart Mind as One

This qigong form is very effective at calming the disposition. A calm disposition is the essence of human health. A calm disposition is empty; it has no cares. Qi is in harmony and the body is in balance. This qigong is both moving and non-moving. The physical movements are for cultivating qi. The inner stillness is to bring you back to the heart. When the physical movements have ceased, your Heart experiences its original purity. It is then that you are released from your past confusions and difficulties.

These forms can help us find true meaning in our lives as we go through the upcoming end of year holiday season.

Drop-ins are welcome if they already have studied these two forms. $20 per class.

Sheng Zhen Gong - Heaven Nature Gong

Location: AOMA Mind-Body Center 4701 West Gate Blvd Austin, TX 78745

From: January 13, 2016 at 7:15pm to: Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 8:45pm

Details:

In Heaven Nature Gong the fluid and relaxing movements guide the qi to releasing the suppleness and compassion of one’s original heart. The practice of Heaven Nature Gong gifts the practitioner with the experience of the sacredness of one’s body. The grace that is developed in the practice is simply a reflection of the true nature of the human Heart, which is full of compassion and innate goodness. As the qi flows through the body during the practice, it opens the Heart little by little, releasing blockages and dissolving physical and emotional pain.

We suggest pregnant women practice this form; the movements and contemplations help one to feel a strong sense of connection and Love to help prepare for changes within the family. In truth, each person is like a reborn baby, needing to be connected to the power of Love. As with all standing forms, the movements may be modified for sitting.

Drop ins are welcome if they already have studied these two forms. $20 per class.

Saturday: Return to Spring
Sunday: Strength in Balance:  Qigong for the Liver
*

$125 One day
$200 Two days

Continuing Education Credits: 6 or 12 hours for Massage Therapists

Saturday: Return to Spring – Open to everyone

This qigong is inspired by the harmony found in nature.  The same effortless balance found in the moon’s path around the earth can also be experienced within our own bodies’ movements.  This experience is especially strong when we return to our natural state of being.  This is a standing form.

Sunday: Strength in Balance:  Qigong for the Liver – *Advanced practitioners only

Our liver allows our being to be in balance.  It processes the physical toxins which we consume, and in Chinese medicine, it processes our negative emotions & memories.  It provides an equilibrium which allows us to ride the ups and downs which come into our lives.  An overtaxed liver can disrupt this, resulting in excessive anger.  This form has movements practiced sitting in a chair & lying down on the floor.

Master Li Junfeng is the founder and principal teacher of Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong. Master Li is perhaps best known as having been the head coach of the world-renowned Beijing Wushu (Martial Arts) Team and National Wushu Team of the People’s Republic of China. Under his leadership, the Beijing Wushu Team consistently won first place in national and international competitions for over 12 years, elevating the standards of excellence and quality worldwide. After practicing and teaching wushu (martial arts) and training champions for many years, he gave up his prestigious career to devote his time to teaching Sheng Zhen Gong to the world.

Presently, Master Li tours the US, Canada, Asia, and Europe throughout the year. During these workshops and trainings he shares his wisdom, his understanding, his love - his entire being, so that others too may experience the joy and contentment that permeates his life. Simply being with him enables one to grasp and experience the depth and the beauty of this loving practice.

*6 CEUs offered for this workshop. AOMA is an approvedmassage therapy continuing education provider through the Texas Department of State Health Services, CE1677.
