AOMA Scholarships

AOMA awards a number of scholarships each year to new students and to students who have completed at least one year of study. Scholarships include: the President’s award (one award of $500), the AOMA Scholarship (up to 2 awards of $500) and the Golden Flower Chinese Herbs Scholarship (two - eight awards ranging from $500 - $1,000). The number and amount of scholarships awarded vary based on the funds available each year.

President's Award, AOMA Scholarship and Golden Flower Chinese Herbs Scholarship application deadline is May 15, 2014. Applications for these three different types of awards are open to eligible candidates. Please submit your applications to the Financial Aid Office staff by end of business day on Thursday, May 15, 2014. President's Award

Application Deadline: May 15, 2014

The President’s Award is a scholarship awarded by AOMA’s President to a currently enrolled AOMA student in good academic standing. The President seeks to support AOMA students who contribute to the professional community of Chinese medicine through leadership and/or publication. Leadership activities can include involvement with national, state, or student professional associations, or participation in legislative efforts. Publication can include personal work/research published in professional journals or on the web. The recipient is selected based on their AOMA GPA and response to the essay question. Golden Flower Chinese Herbs Scholarship

Each year, Golden Flower Chinese Herbs generously provides AOMA with scholarship funds – the number of awards depends on the funds available. These funds are awarded by AOMA’s scholarship committee (faculty and administrators) to 3 – 6 students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Two awards will be given for overall excellence in Chinese medical studies and six awards will be given for excellence in acupuncture studies, herbal studies, biomedical sciences, and clinical internship. Recipients are selected based on their AOMA GPA, grades in individual subject areas, financial need, and response to the essay question. External Scholarships

ABORM Annual Scholarship

Application Deadline: March 31st Annually

The ABORM Annual Scholarship is awarded once annually to a student enrolled in either a Masters Degree Program or the Doctoral Degree Program. The ABORM Annual Scholarship amount is $1,000.00, with the scholarship to be paid in full upon successful submission and acceptance for publication of an article in the Journal of Chinese Medicine (JCM).

The purpose of the ABORM Annual Scholarship is to foster new scholarly inquiry in the field of Oriental Reproductive Medicine & Infertility for publication in the Journal of Chinese Medicine:

Areas of scholarly inquiry and articles may expand upon previously published areas related to the field of Oriental Reproductive Medicine and Infertility, or they may focus on new areas of inquiry related to Oriental Reproductive Medicine & Infertility.

Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in order to apply and must submit (2) letters of recommendation from Faculty  with their ABORM Annual Scholarship Application. Applications with topic proposals must be submitted to the ABORM by March 31st annually, and the winner will be notified by April 30th of that same year. The first completed draft of the proposed project must be submitted to the ABORM by September 30th of that same year for review and revision over a two-week period. Then the final draft of the proposed project must be submitted to both the ABORM and the Journal of Chinese Medicine (JCM) by November 15th of that same year.  Upon acceptance for publication of the scholarship project, the award funds will be dispensed immediately. The Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine (CAHCIM)

The Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine has offered 10 complimentary registrations to the International Research Congress on Integrative Medicine and Health in Miami, FL on May 13 - 16, 2014. for affiliated students in the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care (ACCAHC).

The complimentary registration is for the 3-day Congress. Pre-Congress Workshops on Tuesday, May 13 and travel expenses incurred to attend the Congress are not covered by the registration and are the responsibility of the student.

Interested parties should send a resume (if available) and up to 500 word application stating: 1) name, school, year in school; 2) description of past and future interests in research; 3) why they are interested in attending; and 4) contact information.   

Drive to Learn Scholarship

The Drive to Learn Scholarship was created in an effort to contribute to the community. It is available to full-time graduate students. A 750-1000 word essay is required as part of the application process. Evergreen Hua-Tuo Scholarship

Evergreen Herbs is starting an Evergreen Hua-Tuo Scholarship! Evergreen began as a company to supply quality herbal products to practitioners of Chinese Medicine, supporting the future of the profession through quality products and information. Now, Evergreen would like to further the development of effective TCM treatment protocols, while inspiring bright and passionate students of Chinese Medicine to research and write in the field. The winner will receive a scholarship in the form of a $1,000 Evergreen Collection Gift card good towards their Evergreen Formulas. The winning research paper will also be published by Lotus Institute of Integrative Medicine as well as posted to the Evergreen Herbs' website. Five runners-up will also be selected and will receive their choice of Chinese Medical Herbology and Pharmacology or  Chinese Herbal Formulas and Applications by John Chen and Tina Chen. Mayway Scholarship

The Mayway Scholarship Program is open to doctorate of acupuncture and Oriental medicine and master's level students who are currently enrolled in an ACAOM–accredited college of Oriental medicine within the United States and who will be attending a college of OM in fall 2013. Nuherbs Scholarship

2014 nuherbs Scholarship

nuherbs Co., the Future of Chinese Medicine, will award three scholarships to futher the development of Chinese Medicine by supporting the brightest and most passionate students of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. These scholarships are available to students from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine with financial need, registered for the Fall 2014 term with a miniumum cumulative 3.0 GPA.

Three scholarships will be awarded:

· nuherbs Scholarship: $2,000
· Herbal Times Scholarship: $1,500
· Jade Dragon Scholarship: $1000

Eligibility requirements:

· Maintain minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0
· Attend a participating ACAOM accredited acupuncture school
· Submit a completed application, including the essay, to your school´s financial aid office by Monday, April 7, 2014 by the end of business day (you may also submit your application packet in the DROP BOX outside building C)

Sokenbicha Essay Challenge

Application Deadline: Closed

The Sokenbicha Essay Challenge is a scholarship contest for students of ACAOM approved Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine schools.

First prize is a $4,000 scholarship and paid admission into the AAAOM Leadership Meeting and Student Conference, April 27-29, in Chicago (includes airfare and hotel). The first place winner will be recognized at the Student Conference in Chicago during the Student Caucus.

Second prize is a $1,000 scholarship. All winning essays will be printed and distributed to AAAOM conference attendees and will also be published on the Sokenbicha Web site.

Standard Process 2014 Scholarship

Application Deadline: June 28, 2014

Standard Process is sponsoring a yearly scholarship fund for our AOMA students who are in their last three terms of their program. The scholarship prize is $2,500. The student must have a cumulative GPA of 2.9 or higher, must be between 1 - 3 terms from graduation, have a list of contributions to the acupuncture profession, the college, and the community, provide a letter of recommendation and write a 500-750 word essay. Please submit your application to the Financial Aid Office or outside dropbox of Building C by the deadline. The applications will be reviewed by the scholarship committee after the deadline. The selected winner will be notified and should be prepared to sign a waiver for the winning essay as a copyright release. Additionally, the winner will be photographed with the President of AOMA and be provided with a scholarship certificate.

The Trudy McAllister Fund

Application Deadline: Closed

This scholarship program was established to support students who have entered the last phases of their clinical training or who have undertaken post-graduate studies in acupuncture and Oriental medicine and show promise of making significant contributions either to clinical practice and/or to the understanding of the role of traditional Oriental medicine in a modern context. The expected 2014 award amount is $2,000. The deadline was November 15, 2013.

Eligibility Requirements:

· Completed at least one full academic year of their professional training

· Minimum cumulative GPA from of ACAOM accredited college of AOM of 3.6

· Each college can nominate up to three students.

  Tyt T  Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc. Scholarship

To qualify for the scholarship, students must have a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and be enrolled in an accredited college for university for the Fall 2014 term. Tylenol Future Care Scholarship

Application Period: March – May 31st

The Tylenol Future Care Scholarship is available to any student pursuing a career in healthcare. Ten applicants will receive $10,000 in scholarships and thirty applicants will receive $5,000 in scholarships. Visit Tylenol's Facebook page for further information.

New B Sharps'  Tyt T  Sharp Tillman Military Scholar Program

The Military Scholar Program offers financial assistance to Servicemembers, Veterans, and their spouses to cover academic and/or living expenses while in school.   • Report to the Pat Tillman Foundation when requested (completing all surveys); and
  • Meet expectations of high moral integrity.

Young Women's Alliance: Higher Education Scholarship Application

Each year, the Young Women's Alliance Foundation awards $2,500 scholarships to women enrolled in graduate school or their junior or senior year of college. Recipients are chosen based on their demonstrated financial need, commitment to community service, academic achievement and leadership potential.
