AUSTIN, Texas, September 10, 2012 — AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine (AOMA) announces the keynote speaker for the 2012 commencement ceremony scheduled for Saturday September 15 at 1:30pm at the Hyatt Regency on Town Lake in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Thomas Caven, Vice President of Medical Affairs and Medical Director at Brackenridge Hospital, will deliver the keynote address to thirty-five graduates from AOMA’s master of acupuncture and Oriental medicine degree program. Dr. Caven serves as the Vice President for Seton Clinical Research and in this capacity supports clinical research activities throughout the Seton Network. “We are honored to have Dr. Caven as our keynote speaker. The Seton Healthcare Network has been supportive in working with us on the integration of acupuncture into traditional Western medical settings,” said AOMA president Dr. William Morris.

AOMA president Morris will lead the procession of graduates starting at 1:30pm. Proceedings will include the presentation of the Michael Garcia Prendes Herbal Excellence Award, faculty recognition, awarding of degrees, and a healer's oath lead by program director Lesley Hamilton.

Completing a rigorous four-year masters degree program which includes over 900 hours of clinical internship, AOMA graduates are at the forefront of their field, integrating eastern and western medicine in clinics and hospitals. Upon graduation, these thirty-five professionals will work in independent private practice, multi-disciplinary clinics, substance abuse treatment facilities, hospice programs, oncology centers, community acupuncture clinics, military/veterans facilities, and corporate wellness programs.
