Integrative Clinics

AOMA serves the public by offering accessible acupuncture in a variety of integrative clinics in the Austin area, many of which are in underserved areas. These clinics give AOMA students the opportunity to educate the public and other health care providers about acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine while preparing them to open their own clinical practices or work within integrative Western medical settings.

  • People’s Community Clinic - In 2004 the AOMA Student Clinic expanded their treatment options by adding the free-of-charge acupuncture clinic inside of the People’s Community Clinic located in East Austin at 2909 N. IH 35 Austin, TX 78722, (512) 478-4939. Here, low income patients may be referred by their western medical practitioner for free acupuncture treatments by AOMA student interns. This clinic is currently offered on Wednesday evening & appointments may be schedule through the People’s Community Clinic.

  • Seton Family of Hospital’s Topfer Community Clinic – In 2006 the AOMA Student Clinic expanded their treatment options again by adding the low cost acupuncture clinic inside of the Seton Topfer Community Clinic in north Austin at 8913 Collinfield Road, Austin, TX 78758-6704, (512) 324-6850. Here, low income patients may be referred by their western medical practitioner for $5 acupuncture treatments by AOMA student interns. This clinic is currently offered on Thursday evening & appointments may be scheduled through the Seton Topfer Community Health Center.

  • Seton Family of Hospital's McCarthy Community Clinic – In 2011 the AOMA Student clinic added low cost acupuncture treatments inside of the Seton McCarthy Community Clinic in east Austin at 2811 East Second Street, Austin, TX 78702, (512) 324-4930. Here, low income patients may be referred by their western medical practitioner for $5 acupuncture treatments by AOMA student interns. This clinic is currently offered on Wednesdays & appointments may be scheduled through the Seton McCarthy Community Health Center.

  • Austin Pain Associates - As of 2013, senior level AOMA students have a new integrative opportunity to practice acupuncture at one of the largest pain management organizations in Central Texas. AOMA student interns work with AOMA faculty supervisors to create individualized treatment plans that are shared with Austin Pain Associates' (APA) medical team. The APA location that hosts AOMA students is located at William Cannon and West Gate Boulevard.

  • Austin Recovery’s Hicks Family Ranch - As of 2014, AOMA interns provide auricular acupuncture treatments (NADA protocol) at Austin Recovery’s Hicks Family Ranch, a 40 acre, in-patient addiction treatment facility just outside of Austin in Buda, Texas. Austin Recovery serves between 800-1,000 clients each year. Nearly 28,500-square-feet of space provides plenty of room for individual and group counseling, education about addiction processes, 12-Step programs, life skills classes, Musical Journey experiences, and now acupuncture.
