AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine Library

The library at the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine is committed to the pursuit of excellence, integrity, and accessibility, thereby providing scholarly resources and study opportunities for the students, faculty, staff, and patients of the AOMA community and, continually improving our holdings, becoming the best library at a college of Chinese Medicine in the United States.

The EBSCO internet-accessible database provides our students with access to the most current literature available, Medline Full-Text, a medical resource that includes full-text articles from over 1,700 journals and professional medical publications. Students and faculty have access to this password-protected internet resource both on- and off-campus.

LIBRARY RESOURCES

Print, Audio/Visual, and Electronic Resources

AOMA maintains library resources pertaining to both Chinese and Western medicine. These include more than 9,000 Chinese medical books, journals, videos, CDs, and DVDs, in addition to a substantial collection of the original Chinese languages. These resources, in addition to the EBSCOHost database (which includes Alt HealthWatch and Medline full-text), provide students and faculty with access to the most current literature available.

Computers and Printing

The AOMA Library has eight computer workstations available to students during regular and break week hours. All computers have high speed internet access and print capability. Students may print from computer workstations for 10¢ per side printed (20¢ for double-sided prints).

LIBRARY USAGE POLICY

Checking Out and Returning Library Materials

How to check out library materials

Library patrons give the library materials to the librarian on duty for processing. Circulating library materials may be renewed twice unless an item has been placed on hold or unless the book is overdue. Overdue materials are not renewable unless the overdue fee is paid.

What can be checked out

Books, DVDs, CDs, audio tapes, and video tapes. Reference materials and journals are not available for checkout, but can be accessed within the library.

Length of checkout

Books, DVDs, CDs, audio tapes, and video tapes may be checked out for 21 days at a time unless otherwise noted on the material. Circulation items may be renewed twice unless the item in question has been placed on hold or unless the book is overdue. Renewal can be in person, over the phone, or by e-mail.

Returning library materials

Library materials must be returned directly to the library during normal working hours.

Overdue materials and fines

Overdue fines for each circulation item are calculated at 15¢ per day. Overdue materials cannot be renewed unless the overdue fee is paid. AOMA students will not be allowed to register for the following term until all outstanding fines are paid.

Additionally, all library debts must be paid before a student is allowed to graduate. To avoid overdue fees, return books promptly or renew them before the due date. Renewals can be in person, by phone, or by e-mail.

Circulation privileges

Circulation privileges are available to currently enrolled students, alumni, faculty, staff, and board members.

EBSCOHost database access
