Heart -Based Acupuncture & Herbal Treatment Protocols for  Anxiety Disorders: Clinical Practice and Advancements

Course Description:

In this advanced lecture, Dr. He will discuss both western and Chinese medical approaches to the treatment of anxiety disorders, with a general overview of neurobiology of fear and anxiety, causes of anxiety disorders, patient interview and evaluation, and conventional treatment with its benefit and disadvantage. Special emphasis will be placed on:

1). Heart mind related TCM theory for anxiety disorders, etiology and pathology.

2). Acupuncture and Herbal treatment strategy by regulating the Heart function and modulating neural activity of amygdala and hippocampus in lower limbic regions.   

3). Analysis of specific acupuncture points & needling techniques,  commonly used Chinese herbs and  herbal formulas for anxiety disorders and balancing brain neurochemicals.  

4). Clinical studies, research and advancements in the treatment of anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorders and acute stress disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder and agoraphobia, social phobia and other phobia. 

Speaker Bio:

Dr. Yuxin He is the Academic Dean, Senior Professor  at AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, and the founder and president of the Acupuncture & Chinese Medical Center.  Dr. He is also a committee member of the Chinese Herbology Examination Development Committee of the NCCAOM since 1999,  and serves as an editorial board member of the Journals of Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine and Global Advances in Health and Medicine.  Dr. He was an associate-professor of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Heilongjiang University of TCM (1995).

He earned his Degrees and taught in five of China‚Äôs top medical schools. He was one of the two post-doctorate researchers in the field of TCM in China prior to 1995, in a program designed for developing excellent high level young scientists and academic leaders in the TCM field in China. He is the author of eight books on Chinese medicine and has published more than a dozen research papers in various professional journals. Because of his outstanding contributions to the advancement of the field, Dr. He has received many awards and honors over the years. Dr. He is reputably one of the leading and most skillful acupuncturists and herbal specialists currently in practice, with more than 26 years of teaching and clinical experience. He is particularly well known for his application of Chinese herbal medicine for the treatment of various diseases.
